HISTORICAL STATUS
Anglo American Electronics Laboratory decided to scale down in the middle 1990's. Thus some of the
ex-employees of AAEL joined forces and formed Computerised Telemetry Technologies at the end of
1995. We started to trade in 1996, and have been doing business with the major mine houses. Included
in these are Goldfields Shared Services, Anglo Coal Division, Harmony Gold Mine, East Rand Proprietary
Mines, Randfontein Estates, Northam Platinum, etc.
In the period 1988 – 1995 Driefontein Consolidated's Fire Detection system was supplied and maintained by AAEL
(in particular an Electronics Engineer by the name of Jan Jacobs). During 1996, Computerised Telemetry Technologies
took over the maintenance from AAEL, and converted to the DSP176 systems. We have supplied equipment and
maintained their DSP176 systems since then to date. Computerised Telemetry Technologies was fundamental in the
Y2K change over period, and some of those PC's supplied are still operational as part of their Fire Detection system.
SAFDY SYSTEMS
Safdy Systems was formed in 1990, and designed electronic systems exclusively for Anglo American Labs.
The SAFDY product range of Methane and Air velocity detectors were designed according to the highest
SABS intrinsic safety specifications for the COAL mining industry.
In a joint venture, Computerised Telemetry Technologies (in August 2001) and Safdy Systems (in October 2001) started
trading under MSA AFRICA. As from the 1st of July 2004, Safdy Systems and Computerised Telemetry Technologies split
from MSA Africa and formed an OWN partnership to design, manufacture and sell specialized Fire Detection equipment.
MANUFACTURING
Our pc board manufacturing is done by reputable ISO 9001:2000 and
ISO 9001:2008 approved companies. All assembly and testing are
done in-house according to strict ISO 9001:2008 specifications.
NEW DEVELOPMENTS
Computerised Telemetry Technologies have designed an new digital
transmitter module that is 100% compatible with the "older" Anglo
DSP system and a direct replacement for all single channel
transmitter modules.
Goldfields have upgraded to the NEW AerView III and SSP system
software. Thus the NEW programmable transmitter and the SSP
software, can now accommodate double the amount of available
useable channels on ONE network.
Various new SSP Telemetry systems have been designed and installed
to monitor the SSP and DSP Fire Detection Systems at Goldfields
mines.
A new AVI network, which is optical fibre based, was developed and
installed at a Harmony mine.
PEOPLE
One of our biggest assets is our investment in highly qualified
personnel.
The designer for the Safdy product range was educated in Holland as
a professional Engineer. The designer for the CTT Telemetry modules
is a professional design Engineer from Serbia. Our ex-Anglo
Electronics Engineer, have designed and installed numerous new
Telemetry systems.
